More sustainable to be even better! - After years of research, we at Recla, a South Tyrolean company with a long-established tradition in the production of the Original South Tyrolean Speck PGI and other specialities, have developed an innovative packaging which allows us to reduce plastic by 60% compared to the previous packaging. The new Ecopack will be used for the counter formats of speck and pancetta.

The chosen material – heat-shrinkable laminate – guarantees complete adhesion to the product, which significantly reduces the weight of the packaging and thus the amount of plastic used. During this process, the quality and health standards of the packaged products do not change.

Our new Ecopack enables us to save about 50,000 kg of plastic per year!
A significant benefit for our environment and great progress for the waste disposal of packagings, which currently represents 40 % of the plastics produced worldwide.

Especially for the maturing process of our speck, which takes place in the clear and fresh Alpine air. For this reason, we are committed every day to protecting the ecological wealth of our region – for a more sustainable and plastic-free future!

The numerous investments in sustainability and environmental protection have also enabled our company to reduce fuel consumption to zero by switching the entire supply to green energy: For example, we get our electricity from hydroelectric power plants, solar panels as well as from heat recovery from cooling systems.
By using renewable energy sources, our company has been able to save 33.7 % of its energy needs.
